Coniferous trees and shrubs, white flower-like formations on the branches
These… Pests or fungi have appeared on our thuja shrubs. They resemble woolly aphids, but look more like white inflorescences on the branches.
No signs of insects, the plants are about 7 years old, watered regularly. The soil is slightly loamy and compact. The problem appeared in summer, when they attracted many wasps (I don’t know if there is a connection). After these white inflorescences appeared, the branches started to dry out. As you can see in the pictures.
What could this be? And how to intervene?

Hello. From the attached photos it is difficult to identify the exact pest, but it may be a species of scale insects or Adelgidae. The wasps are attracted by the sweet droppings left by various insects (a sticky substance known as “honey dew”). In this case, you can carry out several treatments, alternating insecticides such as Movento 100 SC, 7.5 ml, in a dose of 7.5 ml/10 L water and Mospilan 20 SG, 3 g, in a dose of 3 g/10 L water, respecting an interval of 7 days between treatments. To increase the effectiveness of the insecticides, it is recommended to add an adjuvant such as Break Thru S 240, 2 ml, in a dose of 2 ml/10 L to the solutions. Spray the mixtures as finely as possible so that they are distributed evenly on the plant. After they die, these pests may remain on the branches, so you can remove them with a damp sponge.
Also, during this period you may consider using a fertilizer with a high potassium content, such as Fertilizer 0-0-40 Azet HerbstKali, 2 kg, by spreading it around the plants, as recommended in the product description. This fertilizer increases the resistance of trees and shrubs to unfavorable conditions and can also be applied to a wide range of plants according to the label recommendations.-
