Apple trees, a lot of blisters, tumors and swellings
I have 7 apple trees covered with these blisters and lumps. What can they be? How do I treat them? Can they spread to other trees?

Hello! According to the attached photos, the apple tree does not show symptoms of bacterial canker. The aspect of the formations is similar to that of the primordia of adventitious aerial roots (Burr Knots), which frequently occur as a result of unfavorable environmental conditions (high humidity, insufficient light, high temperatures). The growths as such are not a problem for the trees, but they can represent entry points for certain pests or pathogens. Thus, it is recommended to take proper care of the trees, as described in our articles:
Apple tree, planting, growing and harvesting;
Winter treatments with oils and copper-based products.Also, to stimulate a healthy growth and to improve the quality of the soil, it is recommended to apply a liquid fertilizer with a high content of beneficial bacteria and fungi, such as Organic Soil Activator, 350 ml, as described on the product label. During the growing season, in order to increase the resistance of trees to the attack of plant pathogens and to keep pests at bay, you may consider the regular application of an organic fertilizer such as AMN Fusek, 500 ml, applied by foliar spraying, according to the instructions on the product label.

Hello! The pest that can be seen in the attached photos is most likely the leopard moth in its larval stage (The leopard moth (Zeuzera pyrina) - pest management). Since you have succeeded in removing the larva from the tunnel, it is recommended to clean the dead plant tissue from the trunk with a sharp and disinfected tool. Afterwards, the wounds on the trunk can be treated with a copper-containing solution, e.g. Bouillie Bordelaise WDG, 50 g.
One sachet of Bouillie Bordelaise WDG, 50 g is dissolved in a small amount of water to form a paste. The prepared solution can be applied with a brush.
After disinfecting thoroughly with the blue solution and allowing it to dry, you can apply a healing solution such as Bio Plantella Arbosan, 350 g or Tree plaster, 300 g, to close and help the wounds to heal faster. For more information on treating wounds in tree species, please consult our article: Tree wounds and frost cracks - How do we treat them?.
Additionally, to support a healthy growth and increase the tree’s resistance, it is recommended to regularly apply a fertilizer to the soil (from spring onwards), such as Organic Fertilizer for Fruit Trees, 2 kg or Manna Bio Orgalong, 5 kg (by spreading and incorporating it into the topsoil) or AMN Nordalge, 500 ml (by watering at the roots), according to the label specifications.-
