Weeds - undesirable plants in the crop that cause quantitative and qualitative damage. They compete with crop plants for vegetative factors (heat, water, light, mineral elements) and are hosts for pests and pathogens. Qualitatively, weeds cause a decrease in the quantities of oils, starches and proteins of agricultural products. On the other hand, weeds can infest seed crops, wear out the working parts of agricultural machinery, increase production costs and hinder regrowth.

The best-known plants in this group are the cereals, such as wheat, rice, and maize. The main weeds that belong to this category found in most regions are black grass, johnson grass, annual meadow grass, cockspur grass, common windgrass, large crabgrass, green foxtail, yellow foxtail, rye brome, common wild oat, couch grass, and bermudagrass.
