Potato

Potato (Solanum tuberosum) is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Solanaceae family, cultivated for its edible tubers. The plant has a branched stem and alternately arranged leaves of unequal size and shape. It produces white or blue flowers and yellow-green berries. Potato tubers grow located underground and generally in the top 25 cm of soil. Tubers vary in color from yellow to red or purple depending on the variety. The plants can reach up to 1 m tall and are annuals, surviving only one season.
