Garlic

Garlic (Allium sativum) is an herbaceous, annual, bulbous plant of the Amaryllidaceae family, cultivated for its pungent, edible bulb. The most widely used parts of the plant are the bulbs. The bulb consists of several bulbils (garlic cloves), attached to a common disc (the stem of the plant), wrapped on the outside by parchment-like tunics. Each garlic bulb has its own disc, a fleshy leaf, and a bud attached to the disc. A new garlic plant is formed from a bulb. Numerous fibrous roots form at the base of the bulbil. The leaves are linear, curved, green in color.
