Chokeberry

Chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa) is a fruit-bearing shrub belonging to the Rosaceae family. It is a shrub with a height of about 1.5 m, but in certain favorable conditions, it can reach a height of 3 m. The leaves are simple, darker green on the upper side than the lower. In autumn, the leaves change color to bright red, giving the plant a very decorative appearance. The flowers are white, flowering in April-May. The fruits are spherical, black in color, and are ripe for consumption in September.  Chokeberry grows well in most soil types, except limestone soils. Plants thrive best in light conditions. An important work, for proper development and high yields, is pruning.
