American sweetgum

Liquidimbar straciflua, popularly called the American sweetgum tree or the satin-walnut, is a size I tree originating from North America. It forms a pyramidal crown and has deeply furrowed trunk and branch bark. The leaves are palmately lobed, glossy on the topside and pubescent on the axils of the veins and on the underside. The flowers are greenish-yellow, they appear at the end of spring (May), and the globular fruits have numerous spikey capsules.
