Lovage

Lovage (Levisticum officinale) is a perennial, herbaceous plant native to the Mediterranean and North Africa. It forms a taproot in the soil and a rich bush of leaves as an aerial part. The leaves are long petiolate, strongly aromatic, clustered in rosettes. The inflorescences are of the compound umbel type. The leaves are used in cooked dishes, preserves, etc. but the seeds can also be used, due to the rich content of volatile oils.
