Locusts

Locusts - belong to the order Orthoptera, the most important species being the Moroccan locust (Dociostaurus maroccanus), the Italian locust (Calliptamus italicus), and the migratory locust (Locusta migratoria). Insects of this order are medium to large-sized, with orthogonal heads. The mouthparts of both adults and larvae are adapted for breaking and chewing, and the hind legs are adapted for jumping. In females, the abdomen ends in a device for laying the egg called an ovipositor.
