      Yellow leaves anthurium

Good evening. About 2 months ago I used the BSI – NPK fertilizer 6-5-6 with trace elements, and soon the little shoot was affected; the leaves wilted, then dried up. The other shoot, the big one, showed no signs of damage, it even blossomed. About 2-3 weeks ago, after watering, the oldest leaves began to turn yellow and fell off. I mention that the watering is not in excess, i even leave enough time between waterings, and when i water the plant. I thought that the very old leaves fell naturally, due to aging, but this impression changed when a younger leaf was affected, even being cut off from the stem. My first conclusion was related to the excess nutrients in the fertilizer, as i did not know that i had to use only half of the recommended amount for that anthurium does not need too much fertilizer. Consequently, i bought distilled water and i wanted to wash the soil to get rid of excess nutrients, but after seeing how the last leaf was cut off, i thought of a pest that could affect the plant in this way. I inspected the soil and the three leaves it still has and i didn’t see anything, but on the chair on which the plant sits i saw some small pests (2-3), and on the plate where the water is leaking there were many, some very small, some older. I attached photos with the plant and with one of the pests, which i caught. Thank you for taking the time to read the message and i am convinced that you will send me the appropriate treatment for saving this plant.

Hello, first of all, the insect in the attached photos does not look like a plant pest, and it is possible that the plant is affected by the fertilizer applied, especially if you used a higher concentration. At the same time, the symptoms can be caused by dehydration, so it is important to ensure a proper humidity (both in the soil and in the atmosphere). The plants do not absorb the water immediately, but first, the soil must be sufficiently impregnated. In addition, regular spraying of the foliage with water is recommended. Also, starting in the spring and throughout the growing season, you can apply a balanced fertilizer for flowering flowering plants: Flowering Organic Fertilizer, 350 ml , to stimulate healthy growth and flowering of anthurium. More information about the proper care of this plant can be found in our article: Anthurium, plant care and growing guide.
