Why Are My Bird of Paradise’s Leaves Discolored?
Hello,
In September I purchased this plant which I discovered has mealybugs. I took treatment and repeated it weekly for 4 weeks. The degree of infestation was not high (I found a maximum of 10 mealybugs during the whole treatment period). After the last repeat treatment I didn’t see any more pests (I check it periodically), but I noticed that its small leaves were drying out. I water it weekly, it has constant light and temperature.
Can you please help me with some advice for what I could do for these leaves? Is it ok to cut them?
Thank you in advance!Attachments:

Hello. Overall, the aspect of strelitzia is normal. The slight depreciation of some leaves can be related to a complex of biotic and abiotic factors, including changing environmental conditions, inadequate watering, stress from pest attacks and treatments, lack of fertilization, possible phytopathogens, etc. For the time being, it is recommended to remove the affected leaf by cutting. Afterward, you can consider a preventive treatment with a biological fungicide such as Dynamic, 100 g. This is applied by watering at a dose of 10 g/10 L water. It is important to prepare a volume of solution corresponding to a single treatment (respecting the mentioned dosage) because the mixture already prepared does not have a validity longer than 24 hours.
At the same time, it is recommended to apply a foliar fertilizer that stimulates plant regeneration after certain stress conditions, improving the photosynthesis process, such as Organic Spray for Indoor Plants Zimmerpflanzen, 500ml or Leaf Shine Spray Blatt-Fit, 500 ml, according to the instructions on the label of each product.
Further, it is recommended to follow the general conditions of care, detailed in our article: Strelitzia, plant care and growing guide.-
