Sage, small red insects, white spots on the leaves, mites
I bought this potted sage from a supermarket a few weeks ago. Although the tips look good and the plant seems to be thriving, I think it is infested by some pests.
I noticed many very small, red insects on the leaves, as you can see in one of the attached photos. Also, some white, fuzzy spots have appeared on some leaves. I don’t know if this is related to the insect problem or if it is a separate condition. Other than that, most leaves are twisted inward, as if in distress.
The plant sits on the windowsill – it might be cold when the window is open. At first I thought this was the cause of the twisted leaves.Besides all this, I didn’t change the soil when I bought it and two times, after watering, I saw a long insect, similar to a centipede but smaller and very agile, in the outer pot. Possibly these could do some damage too.
What do you think, should I change the soil now or wait until spring? I’ve read that I can remove all the soil from the roots and even cut off its affected parts. Is that the way to do it? Would that be a good idea to try?
Can you recommend a suitable treatment and a suitable type of soil for replanting?
Thank you.Attachments:

Hello! From the attached photos, the attack of mites can be seen (Mites in ornamental plants - pest management). Against them it is recommended to carry out 1-2 treatments, 7-10 days apart, with an insecticide-acaricide such as Vertimec 1.8 EC, 10 ml, in a dose of 5 ml/10 L water. Spray the solution as finely as possible, so as to achieve an even distribution on the plant, both on the underside and on the topside of the leaves. It is important to prepare a volume of solution corresponding to a single treatment (respecting the mentioned dosage), because the already prepared mixture does not have a shelf life longer than 24 hours. Vertimec 1.8 EC, 10 ml is not approved for herbs, therefore the time between treatment and consumption is not known.
10-12 days after the treatments, Organic Fertilizer for Herbs Flüssigdünger Kräuter, 350 ml can be applied. More information about its care can be found in our article: Sage - planting, growing and harvesting .-
