orchids – flower stems have buds but dry out (thrips)

      Hello,
I have some orchids, around 40 but some of them have brown flower stems, dried with some spots on them. They have been like that since the little stems appeared. But they don’t bloom, they just grow buds and dry out completely. What to do?
      Thank you.

Hello, orchids are suffering from a thrips attack. For control, it is recommended to carry out 1-2 treatments at 7-10 day intervals with an insecticide such as Vertimec 1.8 EC, 10 ml, in a dose of 5 ml/10 L water. Spray the solution as finely as possible, so as to achieve a more uniform distribution on the plant, both on the lower and upper parts of the leaves and on the stem. It is recommended to prepare a volume of solution corresponding to a single treatment (respecting the mentioned dosage), as the mixture already prepared does not have a shelf life longer than 24 hours.
In order to help the plants to overcome the stress period, 7-10 days after the end of the insecticide treatments, it is recommended to apply a foliar fertilizer, such as Biplantol Orchid, 500 ml, as recommended on the label.
For future monitoring, regular use of adhesive traps such as Impact Blue, 10 x 25 cm, is recommended.
