London plane tree – why it has yellow and brown leaves?
I planted 4Â London plane trees and 2 sweetgum trees in autumn, in the spring they had leaves, but for about 1 week they started to turn yellow, stronger at the largest London plane tree. The leaves have small brown spots and the main leaf veins have brown patches. After a while, the whole leaf becomes brown, as well as the sweetgum ones. The most affected is the largest plane tree. I think it’s because it doesn’t have enough roots. I applied a rooting treatment 2 weeks ago with razormin.

Hello, please give us some information about planting and caring for trees. How exactly was the planting done? Did the trees have a root ball? Where are they located? What are the environmental conditions (temperature, soil, humidity)? How often do you water the trees? You can also cut a few affected branches so that you can see the symptoms they have inside.

liliviu9 April 2022Hello, the trees had root ball and the planting was done in autumn, according to the recommendations. The root is on the surface, they are located in the sun and the environmental conditions are specific to this area (last time the temperature varied between 25-15 degrees, precipitation last 2 days). The trees were watered about once a week, only when there was no rainfall.

The symptoms of leaves develop patches of dead tissue, most characteristically surrounding some of the main leaf veins, followed by the wilted leaves are specific to a fungal disease, anthracnose ( Apiognomonia veneta ), the London plane trees being quite susceptible to it. Thus, it is recommended to remove the affected leaves (to reduce the spread of the disease) and apply 1-2 treatments, at intervals of 7-10 days, with a fungicide such as Zoxis 250 SC, 10 ml , in a dose of 10 ml / 10 l water. Spray the solution as finely as possible, so as to achieve a more uniform distribution. At 7-10 days after the end of the treatment, in order to stimulate the recovery of the foliage and the overcoming of the stress period, it is recommended to apply a product such as Terra-Sorb Foliar, 100 ml. Dilute 25 ml / 10 l water and apply by spraying foliar. In addition, considering that you have applied the rooting stimulator, it is recommended to periodically administer a special fertilizer that increases microbial activity and intensifies the absorption processes at the roots: Organic Soil Activator, 350 ml. It is applied by watering, in a dose of 100 ml / 10 l of water, and the soil must be slightly loosened before application.
