      Linden tree, trimming tips, pruning

      Hello, 2 years ago I planted a linden sapling in front of the block, a sapling purchased from a company in the field of horticulture. I have followed the care requirements, it grows and develops well, everything seems to be ok, although the tip was a little damaged when planting. Reading about the maintenance of linden trees , I don’t understand how exactly to perform the operation, I quote “when cutting thick branches, cut under the branch and then continue the cut from the top, in this way the sap will not leak out”. If you can help me with a more understandable rewording of this operation.
      Then, in the case of young linden trees, starting from what age/height/thickness is it recommended or possible to cut the first branches at the base of the tree, to support the growth of the linden in height and the formation of a beautiful crown ?

      Hello. The quoted sentence most likely refers to the way of cutting thick branches: to avoid breaking/cracking due to the weight of the branch, it is recommended to start cutting from the bottom of the branch (from the direction in which the branch will fall after cutting). After cutting from the bottom (a few cm, depending on the thickness of the branch), start cutting from the upper part of the branch (in the same place, so that the two cuts meet at the end).
      As far as the removal of the branches at the base of the sapling crown is concerned, this operation depends on the current appearance and vigor of the linden tree, its genetic background, the desired appearance and other factors (no general recommendation can be given).
