Fig – holes in leaves

Hello, I have a fig tree about 4 years old, planted near a wall with southern exposure. Last year it fruited for the first time, it had a lot of fruit, but none of it reached maturity. I found them fallen on the ground, dried up. Also, all summer it was attacked by whiteflies, which bore holes in its leaves. I have attached a photo taken on October 29. What do you advise me to do?

Hello. The fig tree seems to present the symptoms of pest attack (most likely caterpillars or other defoliating insects), but without the actual pictures of the pests, an exact identification is not possible. In this case, if you have not noticed any pests on the plant (most of the insects have stopped their activity during this period), it would be more advisable to remove the heavily affected leaves, and starting in spring, you can consider applying one treatment with a broader spectrum insecticide, such as Deltasap 2.5 EC, 5 ml, in a dose of 5 ml/10 L water, applied by foliar spray. The insecticide is not approved for fig trees (and we do not have such a product in our catalog), therefore, it is not possible to specify a preharvest interval.
Also, during the growing season, in order to increase the resistance of the fig tree to the attack of pathogens and to keep pests at distance, it is recommended to regularly apply a fertilizer such as AMN Fusek, 500 ml, by foliar spray, according to the label recommendations.
