Dracaena marginata, leaves with spots and dry tips
Hello! I have had two dracaena marginata for two months. For a week now one of them has started to loose its leaves. They are falling off very fast – they are dry both at the tip and at the base. And on the leaves there are also some white spots. At the bottom of the flowerpot I put stones as well as on top of the soil.

Hello. In order to help you with recommendations, please give us more details about the plant: its location, the light, the frequency of watering, the amount of water administered, the quality of the water, the treatments carried out (if any), the fertilizers applied and any other relevant information.
MiMiha8 November 2023I watered it once every 3 weeks, but now I’ve started spraying its leaves every day. It is located in the living room, but not in direct light. The water is filtered. As for the amount of water – I didn’t use big quantities. So far I haven’t treated it. Thank you.
Hello. In this case, the slight deterioration of the plant may be due to several environmental and/or care factors such as: inadequate watering, unfavourable environmental conditions, lack of nutrients (lack of adequate fertilization), etc. As for the spots on the leaves, these symptoms may occur due to environmental conditions, variable temperatures or a potential fungal disease. Thus, it is recommended to remove the affected leaves and apply a fungicide by spraying, such as Champ 77 WG, 20 g – the dose is 20 g per 10 l of water (spray the entire plant, stem and leaves, both on the topside and the underside of the leaves). It is also advisable to remove the gravel, as it keeps the humidity high in the substrate and it prevents the air circulation at the level of the roots. Also, when watering, it is advisable to apply a larger volume of water at a longer interval (so that the substrate dries slightly before watering again). To overcome this period of stress, it is recommended to use a fertilizer specially formulated for the nutritional requirements of indoor plants, such as Wuxal Green Plants and Palm Fertilizer Palmendünger, 1 litre, applied by watering, according to the recommendations on the label. Further, it is advisable to monitor the development of the plant and care for it according to the information in our article from the Armuro Community: Dracaena, plant care and growing guide.
