CaCamelia27 March 20244 Wish green leaves
Chrysanthemums, leaves and petals that are drooping shortly after purchase
Hello community!
I recently got a chrysanthemum that I watered moderately, always checking the soil and only applying water when it was dry on the surface. I kept it indoors for a while, but some of the flowers started to dry out so I took it out on the balcony (the balcony is closed) thinking it might be too hot for it inside (~22°-23° in the room) but after about 2-3 days the flowers got like this. I can’t figure out where I’m going wrong and I really wish I could save it and care for it the way it needs. I could really use some tips on how to care for it, about watering (frequency, amount of water), light, temperature, species…as much information as possible.Attachments:

Hello. The slight deterioration may have occurred due to a combination of abiotic factors, such as the stress of handling, transport and changing environmental conditions (Acclimatisation of indoor plants and Indoor plant placement according to environmental factors), high/constant humidity in the substrate, lack of fertilizers, insufficient light and others, depending on the case. As no specific symptoms of disease or pest attack are observed, it is recommended to ensure the optimal environmental and care conditions for this species, detailed in our article: Chrysanthemum, planting guide and care work. It is recommended to regularly remove the damaged plant parts. Watering is recommended to be carried out moderately, with optimal amounts of water, only when the top layer of the substrate is dry. The water should not stagnate at the base of the pot or in the exterior pot/tray. An exterior pot can restrict the normal circulation of air in the substrate, thus creating favorable conditions for fungal growth.
Additionally, to stimulate the optimal growth and development of the plant, you can consider the regular application of a fertilizer such as AMN Powerfertiliser, 500 ml, Vital NT, 250 ml or Flowering Organic Fertilizer, 350 ml, according to the instructions in the chosen product description. In view of the current state of the plant and the above mentioned, it is not possible to say exactly how it will develop in the future. It is recommended to monitor the development of the plant over a period of time.-

Thank you very much for your answer. In the meantime I have brought the seedling back inside and avoided watering it as the soil does not seem to have dried on the surface. The leaves of the chrysanthemum however have started to dry out and turn brown from the stem to the tips. Do you know what could be the reason for this?Attachments:

These symptoms may be related to high and/or constant humidity at the root level. Also, other unfavorable environmental and care factors may have accentuated the decay. It is recommended to follow the advice given above.
The future development of the plant cannot be predicted.CaCamelia31 March 2024CaCamelia1 April 2024AuthorPostsViewing 5 reply threadsWas this discussion helpful?
