Cherry tree, cracks with sap on the trunk

      Hello,
Recently I noticed that the cherry trees have some cracks in the bark and from those cracks some kind of sap or glue is leaking out.
I would like to mention that the cherry trees were groomed in February this year and then treated with Bordeaux mixture and then with Ovipron Top + Mospilan + Vertimec horticultural oil.
In the countryside. The situation refers to the present moment. I have attached photos of the bark and the substance fallen in the grass.
      What should I do?
      Thank you

Hello. The gummy substance formed on the bark of the cherry tree (known as gummosis) is not a disease in itself, but a reaction of the fruit tree to stress caused by various diseases, pests (especially leafminers), mechanical injuries, cracks caused by temperature fluctuations or frost, drought, etc. Also, in some cases, the presence of “glue” may be associated with the occurrence of diseases (e.g. cankers) that penetrate the trunk and branches via wounds, but for an exact identification, a laboratory analysis is necessary.

In this case, it is recommended to clean the areas with a sharp and disinfected tool until healthy wood is observed. Then apply a solution with copper, such as Bouillie Bordelaise WDG, 50 g, to the wounds.

One sachet of Bouillie Bordelaise WDG, 50 g is dissolved in a small amount of water to form a paste. After the solution has dried, you can consider applying a product that promotes wound healing and prevents the penetration of moisture that can lead to the onset of specific diseases (Bio Plantella Arbosan, 350 g or Tree plaster, 300 g).

In the future, in order to avoid the appearance of gummosis, it is recommended to maintain the general health of the trees by ensuring adequate humidity, balanced fertilization and carrying out preventive treatments during the vegetative growth.
