Hello. The symptoms of deterioration can be related to a combination of abiotic factors, such as stress from transport, handling and changing environmental conditions (Indoor plant placement according to environmental factors, Acclimatisation of indoor plants), insufficient light, high and/or constant substrate humidity, excessive watering, nutrient deficiencies and others, depending on the case. First of all, it is recommended to regularly remove the withered leaves. As the mold on the surface of the substrate is an indicator of high and/or constant humidity, it is recommended that watering be done moderately, with optimal amounts of water, only when the surface layer of the substrate is dry. The water should not puddle at the base of the pot or in the pot’s tray. Excessive watering can lead to the rotting of the roots, to leaf drop and create an imbalance inside the plant. Given the existence of mold on the surface of the soil, it is advisable to change the first few centimeters of the substrate with a new, fresh one (e.g. ), followed by a treatment with a bio fungicide, such as . This is applied by watering the roots, at a dose of 10 g/10 L water. It is important to prepare a volume of solution corresponding to a single treatment (respecting the mentioned dosage), as the already prepared mixture has a shelf life of no more than 24 hours.
Subsequently, it is recommended to keep the plant in a constant place, in optimal growing conditions (as far as possible), as described in our article: Dipladenia, plant care and growing guide. It is recommended to regularly spray the leaves with non-chlorinated water. As the Brazilian jasmine in the attached pictures has buds, you may consider occasionally applying a fertilizer that supports plant regeneration after certain stress conditions and stimulates flowering (e.g. – this is not sprayed on the buds or flowers).
The future development of the plant in the attached pictures cannot be accurately predicted.
