NINatalia Ionascu6 October 20230 Wish green leaves
Black locust, pruning
I planted two black locusts at the beginning of September, but I’m a bit worried about their shape and the fact that the leaves only grow on the tips of the branches. I would like some advice on how to prune/shape the branches so that a rich crown will form in the future. When and how much should they be pruned?
Thank you!Attachments:

Hello! The trees look normal for this period. In the case of Robinia pseudoacacia, no shape correction cuts are necessary. Pruning consists in removing broken, dry branches, attacked by diseases and pests. In this period it is recommended to apply a fertilizer to all ornamental tree species, for example Fertilizer 0-0-40 Azet HerbstKali, 2 kg, which is a fertilizer with a high potassium content, ideal for autumn fertilization. It increases the plants’ resistance to frost and improves the plants’ water balance.
