      Birch affected by high humidity

Hello, I planted several birches in November last year. They all turned green and looked great. But one of them wilted suddenly in 2 weeks. I noticed that a lot of water gathers in that place, the ground is much wetter than in the rest of the yard. In the meantime, we have reduced the amount of water for that area. What can I do to help the tree? Thanks.

Hello, the birch in the attached images looks completely wilted (and wilting is an irreversible process for which there is no treatment), but it is advisable to check, by lightly scratching a young branch with your fingernail. If the tissue under the bark is moist and green, then the tree is not wilted. Check several places if you find this browned tissue. Viable branches are elastic when bent, while dead, wilted ones break easily. If it is not wilted, you can consider the administration of an organic fertilizer, rich in beneficial microorganisms, such as Recharge, 250 g. It improves soil quality, stimulates healthy plant growth and intensifies the absorption processes at the roots. Apply periodically by watering. Before administering the fertilizer, it is important to loosen the soil and keep an area of land without grass over the entire root area to allow better oxygenation of the soil. Most likely during this growing season, the birch will not have new growths, but if the root has not been affected / asphyxiated by high, persistent humidity in the soil (and in the future will maintain in that area adequate humidity), the tree may have new growth in the spring.
