Anthurium, leaves with spots and possibly pests in its substrate
Hello! I received this flower that already had spotted leaves. After a few days the flowers started to dry up and fall off. I “dug” the soil a bit and found some little white things in the soil. I took the flower out of the pot, cleaned it carefully and put it in another pot, but the problem persists and part of it has completely died out. Its root has dried up as well. Any chance of saving what’s left of it?
PS: I placed the flower by the window for the photo, it normally sits in a bright spot but out of direct sunlight.
Thank you!Attachments:

Hello. Please give us more details about how to take care of the plant: how long have you had the plant? What kind of substrate did you use when transplanting it? When was it transplanted? How do you water it and how often do you water it? Does the pot have drainage holes?
AlAlina23 December 2023I’ve had the plant since August and in early September it was transplanted into a pot with holes. I put water in the saucer, not directly in the pot, once a week. The soil used is peat with natural compost.
The pellets in the old substrate are most likely horticultural perlite, and the symptoms on the leaves are similar to those caused by a bacteriosis. In this case, it is recommended to remove the severely affected leaves and treat with Champ 77 WG, 20 g, by spraying, at a dose of 20 g per 10 l water. It is important that the solution is evenly distributed over the entire plant. Additionally, in order to stimulate the plant’s own regeneration capacity, it is advisable to apply a fertilizer such as Vital NT, 250 ml, by watering, in a dose of 2 ml to 1 l water, every 14 days. From spring it is recommended to transplant the plant in a substrate that has a high porosity and provides a uniform drainage and distribution of water (Green Plants Professional Substrate, 10 litres). Further it is recommended to take proper care of the plant according to our article Anthurium, plant care and growing guide, to monitor it for a while, and in case other symptoms appear or they worsen, we are waiting for your message accompanied by photos.
