Anthurium, leaves with brown spots
Hello. I have had this beautiful plant for a month. It was ok at first, I acclimatized it. The last time I wiped the leaves I discovered this. What is it and what can I treat it with? It does not sit in direct sun, it is watered once a week and I remove the water that is in excess. Thank you!

Hello. The symptoms on the leaves are similar to those caused by a phytopathogenic disease (most likely a bacteriosis). In this case, it is advisable to remove all the affected leaves, then carry out 1-2 treatments, at 7 day intervals, with a fungicide such as Champ 77 WG, 20 g, in a dose of 20 g/10 L water, by foliar spraying. It is important to prepare a volume of solution corresponding to a single treatment (respecting the mentioned dosage), because the already prepared mixture does not have a shelf life longer than 24 hours.
Subsequently, 10 days after the completion of the fungicide treatments, it is recommended to regularly apply a maintenance fertilizer such as Interior Plant Regeneration Ackerschachtelhalm RTU, 500 ml or Organic Spray for Indoor Plants Zimmerpflanzen, 500ml, directly by spraying, following the recommendations on the product page.
Also, for a healthy growth and abundant flowering, it is important to respect the specific environmental and care requirements, also detailed in our article: Anthurium, plant care and growing guide.-

Recommended articlesIIIngrid Ioana14 March 2024Thank you. Should I treat the others even though they display no symptoms? Thank you
IIIngrid Ioana15 March 2024Also, is it recommended to transplant the other healthy ones after they have acclimatized to the apartment? The roots come out through the drainage holes. Can self-watering pots be used?
You can apply the treatment to the other plants in your home. Regarding transplanting, you can do this after the end of the flowering period. There are no restrictions on the type of pot, but it must be sufficiently large and have drainage holes.
AMAlina M17 March 2024Hello! Aucuba Japonica potted since May, kept outside all summer. In December the pot was sheltered , subsequently taken to a closed, well-lit space . It did very well , new leaves grew , until 2 weeks ago when some of them started to turn black and white spots (looks like a fungus ) appeared on the surface of the leaves and on the stem . Please help me with a treatment . I would hate to lose it . Thank you

Hello. The plant in the attached pictures seems to be attacked by a species of scale insects (Scale insects in ornamental plants - pest management). First of all, it is recommended to remove the severely damaged leaves. Then, against the pests, it is recommended to carry out a treatment with an insecticide such as Movento 100 SC, 7.5 ml, in a dose of 7.5 ml/10 L water, and after 7-10 days, you can alternate with an insecticide such as Mospilan 20 SG, 3 g, in a dose of 3 g/10 L water. To increase the effectiveness of the insecticides, it is recommended to add to the solutions an adjuvant such as Break Thru S 240, 2 ml, in a dose of 2 ml/10 L. Spray the mixtures as finely as possible, so as to achieve an even distribution on the plant, both on the underside and on the topside of the leaves, as well as on the stem. After they die, these pests may remain on the plant, so it is advisable to remove them with a damp sponge.
7-10 days after the treatments, it is advisable to use a maintenance product such as Contra X, 500 ml, applied directly by spraying. It supports the regeneration of plants after certain conditions of stress, or if they have suffered from pest attacks. Also, during the growing season, it is advisable to use a special fertilizer for indoor plants to stimulate growth, such as Interior Plants Organic Fertilizer, 350 ml.
More information on the care of this plant species can be found in our article: Aucuba, plant care and growing guide.-
