      Anthurium, dried and yellowed leaves

      Hello,
Most of my ornamental plants on the balcony (anthurium, calathea, syngonium) have started to show symptoms of drying and leaf yellowing. I have attached pictures of the most affected ones. I sprayed them with Ikebana according to the instructions on the bottle, but it doesn’t seem to have had any effect. They are not over-watered, there is air circulation and the soil has been fertilized but without any effect.
      Thanks

Hello. Please send us more details and photos of the plants, pictures in which their substrate can be seen. Please tell us when the symptoms started and the environmental factors (location, light, temperature, humidity, draughts, etc.), how you water the plants, what kind of water you use, how much water you use and how often do you water them. Please check your plants carefully and let us know if you notice any other symptoms of disease (deposits, powders, discoloration, white fuzz, etc.) or pests. If so, please attach more focused photos of them.

In the first picture is the substrate of the anthurium and in the second of the syngonium. Both have similar symptoms – leaves drying from the edges inwards. The plants are in a loggia, the temperature is around 25 degrees Celsius, I air it daily, they get enough light. I water them about 2 times a week, when the soil becomes dry on the surface using tap water that has stood in an open container for the chlorine to evaporate. The symptoms appeared in autumn. I have not noticed any pests or mold. I have carried out 3 treatments with Ikebana (1 per week) since I noticed the symptoms without any results. I removed the affected leaves beforehand but that didn’t help either.

Hello. The symptoms that appeared on the leaves were most likely caused by a number of factors, such as: the lack of substrate on the upper part of the roots, compacted soil, possibly low atmospheric humidity, the appearance of a bacteriosis, etc. In this case, it is recommended to remove the badly affected leaves and repot the plants in flower pots that are slightly larger than the current ones and that have water drainage holes. When transplanting, it is important to use a substrate that provides a good water drainage (Green Plants Professional Substrate, 10 litres). After transplanting, it is recommended to apply a fertilizer such as AMN BonaVita, 500 ml, which stimulates root growth. It will be applied when watering, according to the information on the product label. After the application of the fertilizer, it is recommended to carry out a treatment with Champ 77 WG, 20 g, in a dosage of 20 g/10 L water. Also, in order to increase the atmospheric humidity, it is advisable to place pots with water around the plants or to use a humidifier. It is still recommended to monitor the plants for a while, and if other symptoms appear or if the ones mentioned above worsen, please send us a message with photos.
