How to place bait stations

Rodent control is a treatment intended to prevent and control rodents, respectively mice and rats. Depending on the area of application, it can be done indoors or outdoors. When done outdoors, treatments are performed with the help of raticides placed inside bait stations. When using raticides, rodents are not killed immediately, but after a few days. Therefore, for indoor treatments, it is recommended to use traps with fast action.

Recommended traps for mouse control:

They can be glue traps, mechanical, self-locking, electrical.

Bait stations have the role of catching mice and rats in such a way that rodents remain in controlled places. They are plastic boxes (made from resistant plastic, that lock using a special key) or cardboard boxes.

Their purpose is to prevent untargeted animals from eating the rodenticide, but also to protect it from adverse weather conditions (rain, snow, sun rays, etc.).

There are two types of cardboard bait stations:

– for the control of mice:

– for the control of rats:

These stations are recommended for indoor placement (warehouses, garages, storage areas, etc.) because, unlike plastic ones, they can be damaged by unfavorable weather conditions (rain, snow, sunlight, etc.).

Inside the bait stations, it is recommended to set up glue traps, with an already incorporated attractant, with different flavors (almonds, cherries, peanuts, etc.).

Recommended glue traps:

They are made from cardboard or plastic, with added glue that features in its composition an attractant meant to lure rodents into the trap.

Bait stations – Using and placing cardboard stations

!!!Cardboard bait stations come unassembled.

In order to assemble them, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Fold the ends with the cut areas towards the inside of the station (through which rodents will be able to enter).

Step 6: Assembled bait stations are placed around the perimeter to be protected, with a distance of 5-10 m between stations.

Step 7: Check the stations once every 2-3 days or even more often, removing from them the glue trap onto which mice and rats got stuck. The bait station can be reused by placing inside a new glue trap.

They will be placed around the space to be treated. This will create a “barrier” that will keep rodents at bay.

Raticides will be placed inside the stations.

Recommended raticides:

Raticides are products used for the control of unwanted rodents, which contain in their formulation an active substance that is poisonous to rodents and a special attractant (as bait).

Step 1: Unlock the bait station using the key.

Step 2: Open the package containing the raticide. Raticides come in different forms: Whole wheat, pellets, paste, wax or paraffin cubes. For mouse control, 20-40 grams of raticide should be used per station. For better results, it is recommended to use 2 raticides with different formulations in each bait station. For example: paste + pellets, paste + wax blocks, wax blocks + pellets, etc. This way, the chances that rodents will prefer to take one of the two is increased.

!!! Make sure that the raticide is secured well so that there is no risk of rodents removing it from the bait station.

Step 3: Lock the baiting station by pressing down on the lid.

Step 5: Seal the package containing the rest of the raticide and place it in a safe place, following the storage recommendations specified on the label.

Step 6: Place the bait stations outdoors, around the perimeter that is to be protected, with a distance of 1015 m between stations in the case of rat control.

!!!Bait stations should be placed at the base of walls, fences and foundations, these being routes favored by rodents.

TIP: Bait stations should not be placed in the center of the perimeter that is to be protected, nor should they be placed “upright” or perpendicular to the base of the fence or the wall.
