Leek

Leek (Allium porrum) is a biennial plant. In the first year, it forms a false stem, 15-17 cm high and 3-6 cm thick, which is the most important edible part of the plant. The stem itself is formed by a disc, to which the fibrous roots, more developed than in onions and garlic, are attached at the bottom. The flowering stalk appears in the second year of cultivation, is cylindrical, full inside, 1.8 - 2 meters high. Leeks are eaten raw or prepared as various dishes. The leek's environmental properties are similar to those of onions.
