Damask rose

The Damask rose (Rosa spp. ) is a shrub belonging to the Rosaceae family. They are cultivated for their aesthetic appearance, their flowers being considered the most beautiful in the world. Besides their aesthetic role, rose flowers (petals) are used for the preparation of cosmetics, syrups, jams, oils, etc. Not every subspecies can be grown for this purpose and the most important subspecies of roses for petals are Rosa rugosa, Rosa damascena, and Rosa centifolia.
