Common hawthorn

Common hawthorn (Crataegus sp.) belongs to the plant order Rosales, family Rosaceae, genus Crataegus. The genus comprises mostly shrubs, but also some tree species. The shoots are usually spiny, the leaves are lobed and pinnate, and the flowers are arranged in multiflora corymbs (bouquets). Fruits are small, 1-5 stone clusters. Characteristically, dried calyx remnants can be seen at the top of the fruit. Over the years, many species of produce have been identified (more than 300), respectively, as a result of crossbreeding, many hybrid species have been obtained.
