Shoeblackplant – holes in leaves
Hello, I moved two Chinese hibiscuses to another house and pots in July. Originally they were very, very tall (almost 1.20m tall), but in order to move them, I shortened them a lot (almost to 40-60cm). During this period they were watered once/twice a week (no other fertilizers), and the soil I filled the pots with was pretty dry, from another houseplant that dried out. The room they are placed in is positioned S-W (light enters the chamber from these sides). The leaves are small, and light green, but I noticed some leaves look “eaten”. I haven’t seen any signs of pests. I have attached pictures. Can you recommend what to do? Thank you.

Hello. The plant in the pictures may be attacked by a pest, but without pictures of it, an exact identification is not possible. In this case, you may consider a treatment with a broad-spectrum insecticide (which is also used against defoliating insects), such as Faster 10 CE, 2 ml, in doses of 2 ml/7 L water, applied by spraying (Tech1) as uniform as possible on the plant.
7-10 days after the insecticide treatment, it is recommended to use a maintenance product such as Biplantol Contra X, 500 ml, applied directly by spraying. Supports plant regeneration after certain stress conditions, or if they have suffered pest attacks.
During the growing season you may consider using a special fertilizer for flowering plants, such as Wuxal Flowers Fertilizer Blütenpracht, 1 litre or Flowering Organic Fertilizer, 350 ml, applied according to label recommendations.
In addition, for proper development, it is important to respect the environmental and care requirements specific to the hibiscus rose, also detailed in our article: https://www.armuro.com/en/hibiscus-plant-care-growing/.- This reply was modified 1 year, 8 months ago by Armuro.

The plant looks good overall. It is still advisable to follow the above recommendations, and in case other symptoms appear, you can send us a new message with new pictures.
