Sansevieria – small flies in pot

Hello,
I have a plant I bought in early March. It says it’s Sansevieria. After a short time, I changed its pot and repotted it into a ceramic pot with a combination of universal potting soil and cactus soil. I only watered it once. The first time I placed it on a windowsill but I was afraid of sunburn so I moved it to the kitchen on the counter in a bright area. And this morning her whole pot and the countertop were full of flies. Could you help me with some advice and tell me what kind of pests they are and how I could prevent them from appearing? It would also help me a lot if you could tell me how I should proceed now to get rid of them. Apart from insecticides, would wash the roots with soap and water work? Or what should I do?

Hello, those flies usually appear due to high soil moisture. For control, you can use a broad-spectrum insecticide such as Mavrik (Mavrik 2 F, 5 ml ), 5 ml/10 l water. Spray the plant with the prepared solution and lightly spray the soil on the surface of the pot. If you have an insecticide with a broad spectrum of action at home, you can apply that too.
It is not recommended to wash the roots with soap and water. If necessary, it is recommended to replace the first few centimeters of the soil with a new one. You can also use an adhesive trap for monitoring and controlling flying insects such as Interior Insect Adhesive Trap Gelbsticker, set of 10. It is very important to ensure proper humidity and allow the soil to dry easily between waterings, as they need high humidity to thrive.
