Roses with shoots after planting
Hello. A week ago I planted four rose cuttings in my garden. Today I noticed that they have already grown shoots. I think it is a bit early. When the frost comes will the whole plant suffer, will they still sprout in spring? What can I do, protect them with plastic bottles? Thank you.

Hello, the growth of shoots is normal for the climatic conditions that are in this period, even if the plant does not have the necessary time for their lignification. Therefore, it is recommended to remove them and use a fertilizer such as Fertilizer 0-0-40 Azet HerbstKali, 2 kg, to increase the resistance of roses to frost. Then, from spring onwards, after the plants have started to grow, we recommend fertilizing them periodically with products such as Roses NT, 250 ml or Fertilizer for Roses Rosenzauber, 350 ml, to stimulate their growth and flowering. Also, for more information on the care of this species you can consult our article in the Armuro Community: Roses, planting guide and care work.

Recommended articlesLaLaura22 November 2023Hello, the same thing happened to me and I haven’t removed the shoots yet. What could be the effects if I don’t remove them and they get frozen? Thanks
Hello! The new shoots can freeze, become necrotic and die in winter.
OcOctavian24 November 2023Please explain more clearly. If these tender shoots freeze, become necrotic, does it mean that the plant in spring will not grow any new shoots? If we remove them (the cuttings were planted this autumn), will they grow new shoots in spring? Thank you.
Hello, yes, in spring other shoots from the other buds of the plant will appear.
