Rhododendron, leaves with small brown spots
Hello,
I recently bought a Rhododendron from the shop and I noticed that the plant has small brown spots on the leaves while some of them have a different kind of brown spots on a larger surface. I noticed on one of the leaves a small shell, I don’t know if it is from a pest.
I should mention that I don’t know the conditions in which it was stored. I placed it in partial shade as I saw it is recommended and only watered it and removed just the severely affected leaves (some have holes and are twisted).
Can you please tell me what I could do so that the disease doesn’t spread or if there is a pest and if I should completely remove all the leaves that have spots.
Thank you and I am waiting for an answer as soon as possible so that I can take action.Attachments:

Hello. To help you with advice and recommendations please attach clear photos of the affected leaves and the observed “shell”.
CSCristina S5 April 2024These are perhaps clearer. I am waiting for your suggestions.

CSCristina S6 April 2024I have attached pictures in the previous answer and I have another question, is it possible to keep the plant in the pot (changing the pot to fit the plant’s size) or does the Rhododendron have to be planted outside?
Most likely, the symptoms were caused by the storage conditions, changing environmental conditions, the appearance of a phytopathogenic disease, etc. To be on the safe side, you may consider a preventive treatment with a fungicide such as Amistar, 10 ml, in a dose of 10 ml per 10 l of water (spray the whole plant, stem and leaves, both on the topside and underside of the leaves). It is also recommended to respect the environmental and care conditions (Rhododendron, planting guide and care work), to remove the heavily affected leaves and to water a fertilizer such as AMN BonaVita, 500 ml – the nutrients in its composition improve the quality of the substrate and support the healthy development of the plant.
As far as repotting or planting the tree in the ground is concerned, it is important to know that Rhododendron can be kept in pots for a period of time, but in order to grow optimally, it is advisable to plant it in the ground. Rhododendrons are large perennials that need a lot of space to develop their roots. Planted in soil and outdoors, they benefit from natural environmental conditions (e.g. temperature, soil moisture, rainwater), which are harder to replicate in a pot.
If you want to keep the plant in a pot, it is advisable to: use pots large enough (at each transplanting) to allow the roots to develop, regularly administer fertilizers and respect the environmental and care conditions detailed in the article mentioned.-
