      Potted blueberry with dried stem

Hello, I would also have a question about two blueberry bushes I have in pots. As you can see in the pictures, their stems are peeling. They have been planted for 2 years. Could you please help me with some advice? Thank you very much.

Hello, from the photo attached, the symptoms of blueberry bushes are difficult to identify. In order to help you, please attach more relevant photos of the affected plants and give us some details about their care. When did the symptoms appear? What temperatures have been recorded lately? How often are the plants watered? Have you applied any treatment or fertilizer? Have you noticed any pests?

Thanks for the answer, the blueberries are two years old, they are planted in pots of 47 cm in diameter with crushed gravel at the base, for good drainage. The cracking of the stem began last year, in the summer. The shrubs are watered in the morning and in the evening 20-30 minutes twice a day in summer and once a day in spring/autumn. I didn’t water them extra this winter. I used Neudorf Azet Beeren fertilizer about 2-3 times in the summer. They don’t seem to have any pests. Last summer the leaves had some rust and I removed the diseased leaves but did not apply any additional treatment. Thank you very much.

Exfoliation of the bark of blueberry stalks is a physiological phenomenon often found in these shrubs, which occurs with their development and has been shown to have no negative effects on the plant. However, it is advisable to section one of these stems to identify if it is browned inside. If it shows symptoms of browning, it is recommended to cut all the affected stems down to the healthy portion and seal the wounds with a product such as ( Tree plaster, 300 g ).
