      Pilea, small brown spots

      Hello,
I’ve had a pilea for a few months, sitting on a window sill facing south. In summer I watered it twice a week, now I’ve started to reduce the frequency and its leaves are dropping less often. I noticed some small brown spots on the edge of the leaves, but also some small transparent ones. I don’t notice any pests on the topside or underside of the leaves. I have so far applied triple action Ikebana – insecticide, acaricide, fungicide 2 times at one week interval.
It already has a few seedlings and I’d like to change its pot soon and take them out. But I also don’t want to stress it if it has another problem.
What could these marks on the leaves be from? Thanks!

Hello, please give us more details about the environmental conditions in which you keep the plant (location, temperature, light, humidity, etc.), the source of the water, the method of watering (by submersion, watering the substrate, spraying the plant, etc.) and if there is a heat source near the plant.

Hello, the plant sits on a windowsill facing south, so it has bright light, the temperature 23-24 degrees, the tap water sits in a container for a few days. In summer I have been watering it by submersion, and since the cold has come, I water it above the sink for the water to drain. I don’t usually spray it. I applied Biplantol to it yesterday through spraying, according to the instructions. It has no heat source nearby, the heating is under the floor. Thanks!

Hello, the “spots” on the underside of the leaves are not harmful to plants, they usually occur as a result of salt build-up (from tap water, most often), and the brown spots most likely occurred due to humidity in the leaves and/or the magnifying glass effect caused by the window. In this case, it is recommended to keep an optimal distance from the window or to filter the light with a curtain, to water the plant with distilled water or you can boil the water and bring it to room temperature before watering the plant and to avoid spraying the leaves with water or fertilizer (Pilea belongs to the succulent family). If you want to remove that excessive salt from the underside of the leaves, you can use a soft, damp cloth to gently wipe the leaves on both sides. As for the propagation of the plant by separating the small seedlings, it is recommended that this process be done in spring, according to this article in the Armuro Community: Indoor plants - Repotting . Also in spring, you can consider fertilizing the plant with a product specially designed for this type of plant, Cactus, 250 ml, applied according to the information on the product label. More information about the care of the plant can be found in this article: Pilea, plant care and growing guide .
