Orchid treatment – mealybugs
Hello!
I have a lot of orchids on my windowsill. They have been getting sick for a while now and I found out they have some kind of pests. I’ve treated them with all sorts of solutions, but I haven’t been able to get rid of them. There are about 20 plants, all affected. What would be the best solution to get rid of these pests?
Thank you!Attachments:

Hello. The orchid is suffering from an attack of mealybugs. Against this pest, it is advisable to treat with insecticides such as Mavrik 2 F, 5 ml, in a dose of 5 ml/10 L water, applied by foliar spraying (both on the upper and lower part of the leaves) or Movento 100 SC, 7.5 ml in a dose of 7.5 ml/10 L water, applied by spraying. It is recommended to carry out 2-3 treatments at 7 days intervals and to alternate the products. More precisely, if you carry out the first treatment with Mavrik, the next treatment can be carried out with Movento, 7 days after the first one. To increase the effectiveness of the insecticides, it is recommended to add an adjuvant such as Break Thru S 240, 2 ml, in a dose of 2 ml/10 L to the solutions. Also, to limit the spread of the pest, it is advisable to apply the treatments to all the plants in the premises (if you have any other plants).
7-10 days after the end of the treatments, for maintaining the general health of the plants, to regenerate and protect the orchids, you can consider applying a special fertilizer, such as Biplantol Orchid, 500 ml or Leaf Shine Spray Blatt-Fit, 500 ml.
Additionally, for more information on the control of this pest as well as the care of orchids please read the following articles: Orchid, plant care and growing guide and Mealybugs in ornamental plants - pest management.-

Thank you for your reply regarding mealybugs. I also want to ask you if the treatment can be applied on the aerial roots and on the soil (bark)?
Thank you!-
The treatment is applied by spraying as evenly as possible on the plant, in areas where pests are present (especially on the stem, leaves).
