Murraya, information on the application of products against scale insects
Hello. I have had a murraya paniculata for several years now. One year ago was infested by scale insects (I only found out the name of the pest recently). Knowing the name, I ordered from Armuro Mospilan, Movento, Break thru and Contra X. The insect also infested other plants in the house… a ficus and a Mango tree. Their leaves are falling off and have stopped growing. I understand I need to mix in 10L of water Movento and Break Thru and in another 10L of water Mospilan and Break thru.
Do I spray alternately every 4-6 days? How many times am I allowed to spray? After I get rid of the insect, after 4 weeks, do I apply Contra X and a fertilizer?
Did I understand correctly?
ThanksAttachments:

Hello, the purchased products are applied as follows: the first treatment is recommended to be done with Mospilan 20 SG, 3 g + Break Thru S 240, 2 ml, both dissolved in 10 l water. After 7 days from this treatment, the second treatment is carried out with Movento 100 SC, 7.5 ml + Break Thru S 240, 2 ml, both dissolved in 10 l water. It is important that the treatments are carried out on all the plants on the premises (in general, scale insects camouflage quite well). The substances are sprayed finely on the plants, both on the topside and the underside of the leaves and on the stem. It is advisable to prepare a volume of solution corresponding to a single treatment (respecting the dose), as the already prepared mixture has a shelf life of no more than 24 hours. After they die, the scale insects may remain on the stem and leaves, so it is recommended to remove them with a damp sponge (approx. 5-7 days after the second treatment). 10 days after the 2 treatments (Mospilan 20 SG, 3 g and Movento 100 SC, 7.5 ml) the product Contra X, 500 ml, can be applied by spraying, according to the information on the product label. From spring onwards, fertilizers can be applied to the plants according to the doses and periods indicated on the products labels. More information about scale insects and their control can be found in our article in the Armuro Community: Scale insects in ornamental plants - pest management.

IoIonut5 December 2023Hello, thank you very much for the recommendation. Unfortunately I have already applied a treatment with Movento + Break thru… and I’ve also made the mix with Mospilan… I will have to throw away all the substances and buy new ones for the 2nd spray, if they have a shelf life of only 24h. All right, no problem, just to get rid of this scale insects… Do I apply Contra X once on all the affected plants? Thanks
The product Contra X, 500 ml, should be applied 10 days after the 2 treatments, then periodically every 4-6 weeks, according to the information on the product label (apply by spraying, on both sides of the leaves, avoiding spraying the plants exposed to direct sunlight).
FIFechete Ionut9 December 2023Hello, everyone. I don’t know why, but the leaves are starting to fall off the ficus and the Murraya in big numbers… what can I do? It seems worse since I sprayed it 😐 . Are the scale insects more aggressive?
Hello! Leaf drop is an effect of the infestation with scale insects. It is still recommended to follow the above recommendations.
