Hello. Deteriorated flowers can be removed by cutting, with well sharpened and previously disinfected tools (e.g. ). In addition, it is recommended to remove the decorative bark layer (i.e. the foil, if applicable) at the base of the hydrangea plants, as the materials placed at the base of the plants keep the humidity high and constant at the soil level, thus creating a favorable environment for the installation and propagation of plant pathogens. In the future, it is advisable to keep a permanently aerated area around the hydrangeas. As the activity and spread of plant pathogens is stimulated by the high and constant soil moisture, watering is recommended to be carried out exclusively at ground level, depending on the recorded temperatures and rainfall, only when the soil is dry on the surface. Providing the necessary nutrients is also essential for a healthy growth and development. You may consider using fertilizers such as (a natural fertilizer that contributes to the improvement of soil quality, supports root development and increases the plant’s resistance to stress factors – applied by watering) and (a fertilizer specially formulated for the nutritional requirements of this plant species – applied by foliar spraying).
