Geraniums, leaves dry as paper
On my Tyrolean geraniums the older leaves have dried out – they are brown and have the texture of paper. They make young, healthy leaves but they are also drying out. The variegated geranium has also started to have leaves with dry edges. I have seen the same phenomenon on a Ficus benjamina – some of the leaves are turning brown, drying out and falling off. I took some close-up pictures of a partially dried leaf

Hello. The symptoms of deterioration were most likely caused by various abiotic and biotic factors, such as sunburn, insufficient or excessive light (depending on the case, but geraniums have high requirements in terms of light), lack of fertilization, inadequate watering, changing environmental conditions or the presence of plant pathogens, etc. In this case, it is recommended to regularly remove the affected leaves and apply a treatment (geraniums are susceptible to grey mould or bacterial rot) with a fungicide such as Switch 62.5 WG, 10 g, in a dose of 8 g/10 L water, by foliar spraying. Spray the solution as finely as possible, so as to achieve an even distribution of the product on the plant, both on the topside and underside of the leaves and on the stem (Tech1). It is recommended to prepare a volume of solution corresponding to a single treatment (respecting the mentioned dosage), because the already prepared mixture does not have a shelf life longer than 24 hours. At the same time as the fungicide treatment, you can consider using a fertilizer such as AMN Verde, 500 ml or Vital NT, 250 ml, when watering the plant, as recommended on the label. Also, 10-14 days after the fungicide treatments, it is advisable to use a maintenance product such as Organic Spray for Indoor Plants Zimmerpflanzen, 500ml, applied as a foliar spray. It supports the regeneration of plants after certain stressful conditions. Subsequently, it is recommended to ensure the optimal growing conditions specific to geraniums (Pelargonium, plant care and growing guide). The future development of the plants cannot be predicted.
