Beaucarnea, the leaves are heavily drying

Hello, the tall branches of my plant are drying out a lot. They were rich and green until now. However, there are small leaves growing on the branches…please help me. Thank you very much!

Hello. In order to help you with recommendations, please attach some photos of the plant as a whole (including the pot and substrate), and check carefully and tell us if you notice any pests or other unusual symptoms (deposits, growths, very fine webs or other). Please also mention how long you have had the plant, when did the symptoms of decay start, what are the environmental conditions in the area (light, temperatures, draughts, atmospheric humidity), if you have recently changed the location of the plant, if you have transplanted it, how often and how much water you use, if the substrate is mostly dry before watering or not, if the pot has water drainage holes, and any other information that may be relevant in this case.

Hello, the plant stood inside the house by the window until a year ago. I had to take it out in the hallway because of the cats. It has started to get worse and worse for about 2-3 months now. The temperature is constant, 18-20 degrees. I have had it for about 15 years, last time I transplanted it was 6-7 years ago. The light comes both from the back window (admittedly less than in the living room) but also from 3 small spotlights that stay on during the day in the hallway. In the 3rd picture you can see something brown and dry right in the center of the plant…
About watering, I’ve always watered it once a week…the pot has no drainage holes.
Thank you very much for your help!

Hello. In this case, the slow deterioration of the plant is most likely due to a combination of abiotic and biotic factors, such as the mismatch of environmental and care conditions after changing its location, the limited space in the pot and the lack of transplanting, the longevity in the existing conditions etc. It is known that in conditions of lower light, the water requirements of the plant decrease. This, in combination with the lack of water drainage holes, may also have contributed to the plant’s deterioration (through high and/or constant humidity at root level).
For the time being, you can take into account the removal of the damaged plant parts and ensure optimal growing conditions (Beaucarnea, plant care and growing guide). It is recommended to remove all objects from the surface of the substrate and replace the first cm of substrate with a new, fresh one (e.g. Green Plants Professional Substrate, 10 litres). Afterwards, considering the possibility of the development of phytopathogens (especially fungal diseases), you can consider 2-3 treatments with a biological fungicide such as Dynamic, 100 g, applied by watering the roots at intervals of 7-10 days, in a dose of 10 g/10 L water (for one application, a quantity of solution equal to the quantity of water used for normal watering is administered). It is important to prepare a volume of solution corresponding to a single treatment (respecting the mentioned dosage), because the already prepared mixture does not have a shelf life longer than 24 hours.
Additionally, to help the plant overcome this stressful period and to stimulate its regeneration, you can consider using a foliar fertilizer such as Interior Plant Regeneration Ackerschachtelhalm RTU, 500 ml, as recommended in the product description.
In view of the current appearance of the plant and what has been mentioned, it is not possible to say exactly how it will develop in the future.
