Alocasia zebrina – yellow spots on the leaves
Hi🤗 I recently bought an Alocasia Zebrina. I keep it in front of the window in the light, but the sun does not reach it directly. I water it every 3-4 days when I notice that the soil is dry and the pot very light. I haven’t changed its substrate since I bought it (3 weeks ago). I haven’t done anything to it, and 2 days ago I noticed these yellowish/brownish spots on the leaves😬. What am I doing wrong, what is wrong with it🥺? Thank you!

Hello, the spots in the attached pictures look similar to those caused by a bacteriosis. So, for the moment, we recommend removing the affected leaves with a clean, disinfected tool (Floristic Pruner) and carrying out two treatments, at 7-10 days intervals, with a copper-containing fungicide, such as: Champ 77 WG, 20 g, in a dose of 20 g/10 L water. Spray (Tech1) the solution as finely as possible so as to achieve an even distribution on the plant, both on the underside and on the topside of the leaves. It is important to prepare a volume of solution corresponding to a single treatment (respecting the mentioned dosage), because the already prepared mixture does not have a shelf life longer than 24 hours.
Subsequently, 10-12 days after the fungicide treatment, in order to stimulate the regeneration of the alocasia after the disease, it is also important to use a special fertilizer such as Interior Plant Regeneration Ackerschachtelhalm RTU, 500 ml, applied directly by spraying, according to the recommendations on the label.
Also, for more tips and information on alocasia care, please read the following article: Alocasia, plant care and growing guide.-

Hello! Most likely the leaf deterioration was caused by the change in environmental conditions, lack of light, inadequate watering and humidity. In this case, it is recommended to remove the heavily affected leaves, place the plant in indirect light (behind a fine curtain to filter the strong sunlight), mount a longer tutor to support the stems and ensure the specific moisture requirements by foliar spraying. Water the plant moderately, so that the substrate dries out slightly before watering again (using a sufficient quantity) and the excess should be removed from the tray. You may also consider using a special fertilizer such as Wuxal Green Plants and Palm Fertilizer Palmendünger, 1 litre, which provides the essential nutrient ratio for a healthy growth (the dose is 10ml/10L water) – it can be applied by watering the roots or by foliar spraying at intervals of 8-14 days. In winter one application per month is sufficient. More tips and information can be found in our articles: Alocasia, plant care and growing guide, Indoor plant placement according to environmental factors.

Maybe it seems like a first grader question, but I’ve seen many videos on YouTube and it’s a plant I’ve never encountered before. Any advice is welcome. Thank you
The removal of Alocasia leaves is done by cutting the petiole as close as possible to the base of the plant, using a sharp and previously disinfected tool (Floristic Pruner).
