AnAndra13 November 20232 Wish green leaves
Aechmea, yellow leaves caused by excessive watering
Hi, I have here what I think is an Aechmea, maybe you can confirm from pictures.
I noticed it has more and more yellow leaves and I don’t know if I should separate the 3 plants or put another soil. And generally, how would be better to care for it?Care: I water it relatively rarely, even once every two weeks in the shower, I keep it in light, in direct sun for maybe 2-3 hours/day. The humidity in the room is about 44% and the temperature 22 degrees.
I’m thinking maybe I over watered it a week ago, the soil is all wet.
I cut off the yellow leaves.
Thanks 🙂

Hello. The plants in the attached photos are Aechmea, and the yellowing of the leaves was most likely caused by excessive water at the root level. In this case, it is recommended to water the plants after the first 3-5 cm of substrate have dried out, and it is best to leave the water with which you water the plants for 24 hours in an open container, to allow the chlorine to evaporate. Regarding the transplanting of plants and their separation, it is recommended that these operations are carried out in spring – more information can be found in our article: Indoor plants - Repotting. To overcome this stressful period, we recommend the use of a fertilizer that is specially formulated for the nutritional requirements of indoor plants, such as AMN Nordalge, 500 ml, applied by watering, according to the recommendations on the label. For more information on the care of the plant you can also consult our article in the Armuro Community: Aechmea, plant care and growing guide. Further, it is recommended to monitor the evolution of the plant for a while, and in case other symptoms appear or the mentioned ones worsen, we are waiting for your message accompanied by photos.
