Schefflera – dropping leaves
Hello, I have had several plants that have dropped many leaves this spring. 3 weeks ago I gave them Blütenpracht and Cropmax fertilizer. The Japanese rose and 2 ficuses are ok, but another plant is still suffering. I have attached pictures. In February, many of the new leaves were like the one in the last picture.
Thanks!

Hello, please give us some details about your plant, such as: when the symptoms appeared, environmental conditions (temperature, light, air humidity), how often you water the plant and how the watering is done, possible harmful insects present on the plant.
CoConstantin6 April 2022Hello,
From planting in August 2019 to Dec 2020, it has been sitting in a very bright, south-facing balcony. During this period it did very well, it grew from 15 cm to 180 cm.
In Dec 2020, because it was colder on the balcony, I decided to move it to a north-facing room with a temp of about 20-22C and low humidity.
In January 2021 the leaves started to darken and fall off. In Feb 2021 I moved it back to the balcony, it stopped dropping leaves (somewhat greenish, greyish) but they started to turn yellow. The plant is watered about once a week, checking the soil beforehand.
I have not seen any insects on this plant.
Thanks

Hello, the symptoms present on the leaves are specific to those caused by excessive humidity, persistent in the substrate. In this case, it is important to first remove the affected parts and then apply 2-3 treatments with a fungicide approved for ornamental plants, such as Amistar, 10 ml. Dilute 10 ml in 10 liters of water. The treatments can be performed at intervals of 7 days. Also, 10-12 days after the application of treatments, in order to support the plant regeneration after the disease, it is important to apply a special fertilizer that stimulates growth: Interior Plant Regeneration Ackerschachtelhalm RTU, 500 ml. More detailed information about care requirements can be found in our article: Schefflera, plant care and growing guide.

Recommended articlesSiSimona7 April 2022Hello!
I recently received a Schefflera plant. It has grown well so far, but for the last two weeks, its leaves have started to dropp. In the first phase, a yellow spot appears on the leaf, it turns yellow all over and then falls. Initially, I thought it was because it had changed location, but the small leaves at the top have developed, I think if the environment was not conducive they would have remained either. I mention that the plant is in the hallway, not in direct sunlight, and has been watered about once a week. The apartment is one with underfloor heating, is it possible that this is also a cause?
Please help me with some advice.

Hello. In general, leaf drop is caused by several factors such as inadequate watering, insufficient light, draughts, and stress from changing environmental conditions (Acclimatisation of indoor plants). It is recommended to place the plant at a higher height than the floor because underfloor heating can lead to symptoms such as leaf drops. Also, it is recommended to use a fertilizer such as AMN Verde, 500 ml. Due to its content in micro and macroelements, the fertilizer stimulates the microbial activity in the substrate, which leads to improved fertility and implicitly to the revitalization of the plant. It can be administered by watering, in a dose of 20-30 ml/10 liters of water. Furthermore, in order to prevent microelement deficiencies, a special fertilizer for decorative indoor plants can be administered during the growing season: Wuxal Green Plants and Palm Fertilizer Palmendünger, 1 litre. For the proper development of the plant, it is advisable to respect specific environmental and care requirements (Schefflera, plant care and growing guide).
