Goji plants are shrubby species between 1 and 4 m tall, with elongated, elliptic or ovate leaves, alternately arranged on the stems. The flowers are hermaphrodite, solitary or clustered, short-stalked (1-2 cm), purplish, rarely white or green. Fruits are small berries, up to 2 cm long, ellipsoidal, elongated. They are fleshy, red, orange or yellowish and have 4 to 20 brown, sometimes yellow seeds. The shrubs are well-rooted.
