Ginkgo biloba or pagoda tree is a species that systematically belongs to the Gymnosperms group, making the transition to conifers. It is native to China, where it grows as a tree of the first growth stage. They are dioecious trees. In general, male specimens have a pyramidal crown, and females have a broad crown. Female trees form fruit in the form of false, fleshy drupes with an unpleasant smell when ripe. They are planted solitary or in groups as alley trees. Male trees are preferred. They are slow-growing in their youth, after which they grow quite fast.
