What is the cockchafer (Melolontha melolontha)? Which plants are attacked and what damage can it...
en
Cockchafer is a polyphagous species, the adults attacking the leaves, sometimes also the flowers and fruits in formation, of woody and herbaceous species. In heavy attacks, leaves are destroyed, leaving only the main veins. Larvae attack the roots of herbaceous, root, tuber, and bulbous plants, as well as the woody roots of seedlings in vine and fruit nurseries.
Cockchafer has one generation every 3-4 years and overwinters in the soil as a larva and/or adult.
